The Redneck Games near Athens, Texas, resulted in 54 arrests this week. Anyhow, I can't believe that this cultural event wasn't more widely covered--it's like an East Texas version of Woodstock, only with beer instead of acid.

only 54 arrests? coming from the mardi gras culture, it doesn't seem like a lot.
Yeah, it doesn't seem like a lot of arrests. But it is East Texas, and the article doesn't say how many attendees were shot trying to escape. I've been to Athens, Texas. It's a nice place--a classic Texas county seat, and it's still got a functioning downtown to go around the courthouse.
