The Daily Zen is on a roll. Why do I like this one so much? What does it mean?

No form, no sound.
Here I am;
White clouds fringing the peaks,
River cutting through the valley.

I think it's probably got to do with the notion that the self really is nonexistent, impermanent, and just a mental construct. So Jo probably is correct about being one with nature.

Hmmm. I like Dave's interpretation. Kind of reminds me of that Talking Heads song about the days going on and the water flowing, or whatever. I've been meaning to watch Mystic River, BTW.

How about seeing the clouds and the river as metaphors for our minds? No sound, no form, but capable of imagining great and beautiful things and thinking great thoughts.

Dave, I think you're right that there are a whole lot of possibly correct interpretations. I love having things open-ended and subject to interpretation. It certainly makes for great discussion. That's one reason I love that one HBO show so much.
